The Coach

Rob has been a driving force in Irish climbing for over 25 years, contributing to the development of athletes and the wider climbing community. In 2018, after more than 10 years of involvement, he proudly stepped into the role of Head Coach of the Irish Climbing Team, a position he held until 2023. During this time, he guided climbers at the highest level, helping them refine movement, strategy, and performance.

His coaching sessions are a journey of exploration in climbing movement.

Indoor Movement Coaching

Rob offers indoor coaching in Lisburn, Belfast, and Dublin, focusing on movement analysis and efficiency. These sessions are tailored to your level, whether you’re working toward your next grade or seeking to advance your movement skills. Rob works with climbers from complete beginners to experienced athletes, ensuring every session is adapted to your goals and ability.

What to expect from your coaching session:

  • Rob will assess your climbing to identify weaknesses, inefficiencies, or habits that may be holding you back

  • Refine your movement so you climb in a way that suits your body and style

  • Unlock sequences and techniques, giving you those “eureka” moments that transform how you approach problems and routes

  • Summary of your coaching points with video analysis and movement insights

Coaching on Rock

For those transitioning outdoors, Rob makes the move from wall to rock accessible and enjoyable. He’ll break down the process, showing you how to apply indoor skills to real rock, opening the door to new destinations and adventures. For Experienced Climbers

If you’re already confident on rock, Rob can help you push further—whether it’s refining clipping and redpoint tactics, tackling a specific route or problem, or exploring some of the best climbs across the country.
